Women's Volunteer Service
About The volunteers of the Women's Volunteer Service, which consisted mostly of older women, did "whatever was needed" for the country. In British cities, these women provided all types of support, including food, refreshments, medical care and more. The WVS mainly helped victims of the Blitz, and the inhabitants of the underground railroads, but also aided children's evacuations to the British countryside away from the bombings.
